Ruhle on Bringing Manufacturing Back: ‘It’s One of the Reasons We Have Such a Need for Immigrants’

‘Who’s going to work in those factories?’

RUSH EXCERPT:

RUHLE: “Okay, then let me ask something really basic. Let’s pretend for a moment that sneakers are going to get made here in the United States. Who’s going to work in those factories? It’s not like we don’t have enough jobs in this country. We do. But what we have is a lot of Americans unwilling to take some of the lower skilled jobs. Right. Think about who delivers food. Think about who works as home health care workers. It’s one of the reasons we have such a need for immigrants in this country, because Americans aren’t willing to take the lowest skilled jobs. And if you’re talking about working in a t shirt factory, sewing t shirts for 12 hours a day or 14 hours a day, because we’re going to deregulate, we don’t have the labor force to do those jobs in the United States.”
