John Kennedy: 70 Countries Are Begging for a Deal, Trump Is Like the Pit Bull Who Caught the Car

KENNEDY: “Reconciliation is not quantum physics. It’s about lower prices. You’ve got to do three things. You got to reduce government spending so you have less stimulus. You’ve got to deregulate the economy so the price of goods and services go down and you have to design your tax code that looks like somebody designed it on purpose to stimulate growth. Now reconciliation allows us in the Senate to do all three of those things with 51 votes and that’s really all it is. I want to say a word about tariffs. Because that’s the fourth leg of this. I think most fair-minded people would agree with this. Other countries have used trade barriers to take advantage of the American people and American businesses. Number 2, President Trump has said enough. We would not be in this situation today had he not... There are 195 countries in the world, at 70 are begging him to make a deal to lower tariffs. He’s like the pit bull who caught the car. I don’t know what the president is going to do next. Here’s what I hope he does. I hope he takes a deal. I hope he goes — they go to everyone of those countries and reduce those tariffs and trade barriers down to zero. And let American businesses compete with those of foreign businesses. Competition makes us better.”
