David Brooks: Trump Administration Does Not Care About the Working Class

‘They are ignoring the real problems’

EXCERPT:

BROOKS: “You know, Donald Trump was elected with votes of working class voters. And so you would have thought he would have sort of tried to cater to the working class when he got there. He was like, working class people die eight years sooner. Maybe do something about that. Working class people are five times more likely to have a kid at a wedlock. Maybe do something about that. But they've done nothing of that. And I would cheer on an administration that really tried to help the working class. But they've done nothing of that. Why? Because they're not working class. They don't, in my view, don't care about the working class.”
