GOLDBERG: “Well, no, it’s not surprising, obviously, because it didn’t seem like there — why would they just have one conversation on Signal? They were obviously feeling like this is a good place to talk. It’s not. It’s an — it’s an open access commercial app. It is end-to-end encrypted, but it’s out there in the world. And one of the problems is you can wind up inviting people you don’t mean to invite. So it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they were using it. Alas, the Yemen Houthi conversation was the only one I was invited to, but, you know — interested in the policy arguments in this thing. But, you know, when it started, when they started pivoting toward very, very secret imminent attack plans, when planes are launching from aircraft carriers to attack Yemen, I felt as, just as an American, like, wait, guys, what are you doing?”
