MCFAUL: “I have to say, so far, I think the senator is right that we put — all we’ve done is we’ve pressured the Ukrainians, we basically forced them to surrender. And all we’ve done so far is provide concessions, inducements to President Putin. And that strategy is not working. I think that’s the important message here. And then — so therefore, you have to change this strategy. And I think the right strategy for the president and his team would be to start pressuring Putin with sanctions, with weapons to Ukraine to show that you’re serious about putting pressure on both sides, not just one side, to do this deal.”
