PRESSLEY: "I’m very worried, and the fears are credible here, and that is why I am so heartened, while I continue to work closely with the mayor of somerville, mayor ballantyne, working with my Massachusetts delegation colleagues, leading this letter with senators Warren and Markey, respectively, demanding due process and her release, that I’m so heartened by the community response because that’s what we need is public outcry and outrage. They are disappearing people from society. For a dissenting opinion from their own. And that is frightening. And that is what a dictator does. It seeks to silence voices that have a dissenting opinion. And so it could be you tomorrow for reading a banned book. It could be you tomorrow for writing simply an op ed that they disagree with. It could be you tomorrow for practicing your religion. So this is a five alarm fire. Again, it is chilling and we need solidarity from everyone. What however you feel about the issue around Israel and Palestine, know that our destinies are tied as Israelis, as Palestinians, as Americans. In this moment, whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, you need to join us."
