Baker: Trump Says Deep State Actors Are Out to Get Him and It’s a Very Paranoid View of the World

BAKER: "Well, in some ways, no, it shouldn’t surprise you, but it may shock you, right? He said things that in there that were of course false. He said things that were misleading. He made conspiracy theory claims, you know, he. Decried the cases against him without, you know, actually denying any of the facts against him, simply said that there were this, you know, broad conspiracy against him. Basically everything that’s ever been lodged against him in a in a lawsuit, in a, in an on a witch hunt. He’s never in his mind. Done anything wrong. At the same time, he seizes this cabal, as he describes it, a deep state, actors who are out to get him. It’s a very paranoid view of the world. He also said yesterday, I think it’s really important that we point this out. He said that this network and CNN, as well as newspapers like The New York Times are illegal, that by reporting independently that they are illegal. He accuses the media of conspiring with his enemies, and he says it should not be allowed. Now, of course, we don’t conspire with anybody. That’s not the way independent media works. But he is using that and setting a, you know, setting the ground for what could be something pretty important and pretty, you know, dangerous in a free environment, chilling."
