DANIELS: “So this is another example of — the millionth example of having the president saying one thing, Donald Trump saying one thing, and then his staff or his secretaries and the cabinet or his friends or his allies saying something that’s a little bit different. But I think what you’re hearing from Trump is what we’re also hearing from a lot of economists, right? There could be a recession over the next 12 months, right, by the definition of it. Consumer confidence is down. All of those things are true. And tariffs aren’t great. He is finally, kind of in a way that he never has before, being really honest about the impact that some of this may have, right? When he told the farmers there may be a little bit of pain, that’s probably as much as we’re going to get out of him, but it’s a recognition that it’s going to be much more difficult for folks before it gets better, if it does."
