Slotkin: I’m Going to Withhold My Vote Until I See Assurances that Money Is Spent the Way Congress Intends
‘We’ll see if it can get through’
EXCERPT:
SLOTKIN: "Well, we just got the bill yesterday, so we're still looking through it. And it has to go through the House, and they have very tight margins in the House. So we'll see if it can get through. But I think the fundamental point, at least as I approach this, is, look, the president has been deciding how to spend the money anyway he wants, even when we have a budget that both Democrats and Republicans voted on. That's a constitutional issue, right? Everyone knows Congress has the power of the purse. So I just — until I see some assurances that whatever we pass next week is going to ensure that the money is spent the way Congress intends, I'm going to withhold my vote until I see that."
