VAN HOLLEN: “Well, Phil, what the president has done is he has lit a fire and thrown it on a keg of gasoline, because what’s happening in Gaza, what’s happening in the Middle East is already a tinderbox. It’s already on fire. And what he is doing is going to spread that fire. He has essentially called for what amounts to the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, the forced removal of 2 million Palestinians to other areas. King Abdullah in Jordan and, of course, Egypt have said not only is that repulsive from a moral perspective and a legal perspective, it will also destabilize their countries. It has emboldened, Phil, the farthest extreme right voices in Israel, people like Ben-Gvir, people like Smotrich. These are people who have been waiting for the opportunity to essentially find a way to move those Palestinians out of Gaza and, frankly, they’d like to move them out of the West Bank.”
