Christine Brennan: Less than 10 Out of More Than Half a Million of NCAA Athletes Is Affected By Trump’s Changes of Transgender Policy
EXCERPT:
BRENNAN: “You know, Charlie Baker is the president of the NCAA, and he was before a congressional committee about six weeks ago and was asked that exact question about how many athletes are involved. And there are over a half million NCAA athletes, Baker said. And then asked about how many transgender athletes there are in the NCAA, he said less than 10. So that‘s the number we‘re talking about, less than 10 out of more than half a million. But as you know, this has become an issue that is political, that is fraught with with emotions and and has become a part of our culture and was a part, of course, of the presidential election. And set against that backdrop, this is this conversation. So the reality is now the president has said, if you have gone through male puberty, you cannot compete in women‘s sports.”
