Taylor Riggs: Why Is Calif. The Only State ‘Where Insurers Don’t Want to Insure?’
RUSH EXCERPT:
RIGGS: "I’m from California. wire with the only state insurers don’t want to ensure? the only state we have priced people out of the market because we told the actuaries the way you price risk isn’t good enough and we have 2 prices, can’t do business in this state. you get insurance and 49 other states. what is California doing that the insurers had to pool out because they can’t make the numbers work? I feel for the people in California but I would love to see some strings attached. can we give aid if we promise we change the way we do controlled burns? can we give aid if we promise that we change the way we talk about insurers and the actuaries and price controls. I don’t know if that is feasible. if we don’t do that you will get wildfires every five years because every couple years you get massive rainfall, every couple years massive over vegetation growth and every that turned into a big tinderbox. I would like to see something change the we don’t keep seeing these wildfires."
