UPenn Swimmer: School Threatened Us if We Complained About Men in Locker Room

‘They told us to seek help’

EXCERPT:

JEFFCOAT: “What would happen if you spoke out? Were there -- were there actual consequences told to you that would happen if you spoke out?”
SCANLAN: “The university told us, point blank, if you speak to the media, you will regret it. You'll never be able to find a job. No one will ever want to talk to you again. They said you'll be painted as a bigot for the rest of your life and people will look you up. It's as scary as anything you can tell 18 to 22 year old girls on a college campus. They're never going to be able to find a job. No one will ever respect them. They even told us actually that it was racist if we did not want to undress in the locker room. They said -- they said it was equivalent to not wanting to undress with someone based on their race. As a mixed race individual, I found that to be completely insane and not acceptable.”
