Halperin: Trump Is One of the Two Most Talented Politicians; The Other Is Bill Clinton

WALLACE: “...equal the demise of any other campaign. And that sort of was misdiagnosed, I think, from the beginning. The story actually isn’t Trump, It’s the Trump supporter — [crosstalk] — who decided back in the fall, back in the summer, maybe some them when they thought he was the only one telling the truth about Obama and incredibly polarizing and controversial claims. But his base has been with him in a way that they are not with and have not been and I don’t foresee them being with anybody else.” [crosstalk]
ROBINSON: “Part of the deal is, you know Trump is transgressive. And that’s part of — that’s his appeal to a lot of his people.”
WALLACE: “He’s dangerous.”
ROBINSON: “He doesn’t play by the rules, he’s different. And so, when he says something crazy, we all point and say, ‘Well, he’s being transgressive, he’s different, he is —‘ you know and —“ [crosstalk]
WALLACE: “He’s bad. Let’s take —“
ROBINSON: “— his supporters say, ‘Yeah, that’s right.’”
HALERIN: “It’s a lot about his supporter supporters, but I think it’s at least 25 percent about him. Because, he is one of the two most talented presidential candidates any of us have covered. He just is.”
WALLACE: “Who’s the other one?”
HALPERIN: “Bill Clinton.”
ROBINSON: “And not Barack Obama? The black guy from Chicago with the name Barack Hussein Obama who got elected twice?”
HALPERIN: “Strong third. (Laughter) I mean, look at what Donald Trump does every day to defy —“
