David Jolly: ‘Mike Johnson Is Just as Much as Culprit with Donald Trump’ When It Comes to Washing Away Gaetz’s Allegations

JOLLY: “So, in some ways, I think what the Ethics Committee was doing was defending the norms and processes of the House. And that’s where Mike Johnson ultimately got this wrong. Mike Johnson had a committee on ethics in the House that had been manipulated by Matt Gaetz now for several years, and it was right for the Ethics Committee to make the move. Then you get to the substance of this. Mike Johnson was also covering up what appears to be credible allegations of statutory rape that used to be disqualifying for any political leader, it is not apparently in today’s Republican Party. And so, Mike Johnson is just as much a culprit with Donald Trump when it comes to washing away credible allegations, or actually civil verdicts when it relates to sexual misconduct. So, in some ways, it’s no surprise. The only surprise is that Mike Johnson wears his evangelical Christianity on his sleeve, and yet is fine to turn a blind eye to this type of behavior.”
