GOP Rep. Spartz: Mike Johnson Doesn’t Even Talk to Republicans Most of the Time During Negotiations

‘I mean, honestly, it’s almost disrespectful where numbers just last second have this 1500-page bill that they expect them all to vote’

EXCERPT:

SPARTZ: "I don't think that was happening, because Speaker Johnson doesn’t even talk to his Republicans most of the time, even to moderates time when he was doing negotiations. I mean, honestly, it’s almost disrespectful where numbers just last second have this 1500-page bill that they expect them all to vote. I mean, even his very loyalists are not willing to do that anymore because this is not how this institution should be governed, but a couple staffers that try to get lobbying jobs and make a lot of money are writing all legislation for us. I mean, this is really a bad situation, but committees were not aware, committee chairs were not aware what’s happening there. We're actually the most powerful institution in the world, Article One branch, and have a couple unelected staffers govern for us with a bunch of garbage in these bills. This is really a terrible situation, and I think the only way out for us, at least for him, is to continue this reckless spending for several months, hopefully we will have a better plan but separate all of these bills. It's not an omnibus, too, it's minibus, it's not as bad, and then let people vote that and let Democrats shut down doing a clean CR. I don’t think these people want to shut down because Nancy Pelosi's great things are still on that budget, so they should be happy with all of the Covid spending that's still baseline in it."
