Jared Polis: ‘Happy to Cooperate’ to Track Illegals Who’ve Committed Crimes But Not for People Who Follow the Law
EXCERPT:
POLIS: "Look, let's start with the common ground. Just like some Americans commit crimes, there are some immigrants that have committed crimes. If they're going to provide additional assistance from the federal government to track down, apprehend, and deport people who've committed crimes in our country, we are happy to cooperate, help however we can. At the same time, people who've been following our state laws that have jobs or are -- are paying taxes or living by the rules, of course, we want to do what we can to protect them as well as emphasize their importance to our economy. If you start deporting people who work in our agriculture sector, people who work in construction, you're going to increase the price of homes, you're going to increase the price of food. Coupled with the Trump tariffs, it's a recipe for a major recession and disaster."
