PARKER: “You’re exactly right. These transnational crime rings out of South America, they know exactly what they’re looking for. These NFL, NBA players and other professional athletes, these are considered high-value targets. Like you said, they are believed to have a lot of money, nice possessions and they can just go in there and get what they want. And again, because the media, the social media, it really opens up people’s lives to the general public that wasn’t available back in the day. So these athletes, they are extremely vulnerable and there’s a lack of privacy because, you know, everything is on social media. Regular civilians can do open-source record checks and determine where individuals live. And so then, like you said, their schedules are wide open on the internet. You can go look and see, hey, when is this game happening? And they go in and they attack at that time and they burglarize in the most vulnerable moments.”
