Fans of the Denver Broncos got a welcome respite from the Seattle Seahawks’ relentless assault when pop star Bruno Mars took the field for the Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show. Mars performed a medley of his hits, such as “Grenade” and “Locked Out of Heaven,” with the requisite spectacular staging. Mars was also joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, a late addition to the halftime show. The Chili Peppers performed a scorching rendition of “Give it Away,” before handing the stage back to Mars for “Just the Way You Are.”

Looks like the Broadway showtunes halftime show will have to wait another year.
