Rep. Ivey: Speaker Johnson’s Comments on Gaetz Ethics Report Are ‘Unsettling’

IVEY: "I don’t think it helped. Certainly, the speaker of the House making a statement like that, this is supposed to be a nonpartisan committee, but half of our committee is made up of Republicans. The chair of the committee is a Republican. It’s unsettling to think that he would make a statement like that before we have had a chance to meet or vote on this. Normally, the speaker would not be getting in the middle of these sorts of decisions. In fact, that is the reason the ethics committee was set up, was so to be insulated from that sort of involvement."
