Ameshia Cross: Republicans Want to Ensure that They’re Always in Power to Run the Nation in an Authoritarian Way

CROSS: "I think we’re going to have to continue to fight in the courts. We know that when Donald Trump said he was getting everything up to the states, we have seen this before. You talk about states acting as independent harbingers disrupting civil rights and justice for people of color, we get to what we saw during Jim Crow. Our civil rights groups and organizations are going to have to fight this, as will the attorneys who have been doing this for decades. Because, quite friendly, even in victory and running up and down the ballot, what Republicans want is to not be competitive races. They don’t want to have like people at the polls, young people at the polls. They want to ensure that they are always in power and they can continue to run the nation in an authoritarian -like way. And that is what the goal is."
