Ro Khanna: ‘I’m Confident’ the Democratic Party Will Come Back in 2026 and 2028
EXCERPT:
KHANNA: "First of all, look, I'm obviously deeply disappointed. I couldn’t fall asleep until 5:00 in the morning yesterday in California time. I understand young people who are anxious, who are devastated. I had a whole staff-wide call and there wasn’t a smile on the face of any of my young staffers. But I also think that people look to history. Look, I had the honor of serving with the late great John Lewis. He was beaten on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. My grandfather spent four years in jail alongside Gandhi for India's independence. Previous generations have overcome a lot. So, we’re going to overcome this. I mean, Kamala Harris, yeah, she lost, but she lost by 2% across seven swing states. Donald Trump's margin of victory wasn't as big as Joe Biden’s victory was in 2020. I’m confident that this party is going to come back in 2026 and 2028. But to your point, Katy, we have to go into the rural communities, we need to go into de-industrialized towns. We need to ask them, what is it that you want in these communities, what can we do? And then really acknowledge the grievance, and then sell the policies we have."
