W. Kamau Bell: You Have to Play to Your Base, Not Dick and Liz Cheney
EXCERPT:
BELL: “Kamala Harris did not play to her base in this election. And I say that as somebody who lives where Kamala Harris is from, Oakland, California. She did not even -- she did not play to the values that she grew up, raised with here in Oakland, California, in Berkeley, California. The fact that she didn't do a rally here shows that she knew that. And she played -- the fact that you picked two of the least popular Republicans to talk to, campaign with, Dick and Liz Cheney, shows that like, you're not playing to your base. And I respect Kamala Harris, and it's got to be hard right now, but you have to play to your base. And the base of the party is young, it is progressive, it is less leaning, it cares about Gaza and they, by not bringing a Palestinian on stage at the DNC, by talking about we want to have the most lethal fighting force in the country, these are not the value -- the base values of the Democratic Party.”
