Clinton: I’ll Be the Next President Because I’ve ‘Withstood’ Attacks by the Press
[excerpt]

SCARBOROUGH: “I want to ask you that something else we talked about on the show. Yesterday, or the day before Bob Woodward came with a big folder that said —“
BRZEZINSKI: “Oh, my Gosh.”
SCARBOROUGH: “— ‘Trump on it’.”
CLINTON: “Oh, my Gosh.”
BRZEZISNKI: “Yes.”
SCARBOROUGH: “— and he said ‘We’re going to go after this guy. He is going to be the next nominee — [crosstalk] — and nobody’s gone after him.’ I said, ‘Bob, actually they’ve written all the articles, nothing seems to stick to him.’ And I said the bigger question is not why the press hasn’t investigated him — because they have — the question is why doesn’t anything stick to him whereas everything seems to stick to Hillary Clinton? It’s got to be frustrating, first of all for you to see sort of the double standard not necessarily among the press but among the voters.”
CLINTON: “Yeah.”
SCARBOROUGH: “But why do you think that is, that — that nothing sticks to Donald Trump but if you wrote something in 1973, the press would be chewing on it for two weeks?”
BRZEZINSKI: “Or if you said something in 1994 someone would hold up a sign and take it out of context —“
CLINTON: “Yeah.”
BRZEZINSKI: “— right in front of a speech you’re doing.”
CLINTON: “Yeah, I know. I know, I know.”
SCARBOROUGH: “Which we saw today which was absolutely ridiculous.”
CLINTON: “Well, you know, look, I have a couple responses to this. I think part of the reason why I’m going to be the nominee and I’m going to be the next president is because I have withstood all this. I have been vetted. I mean, I’ve been at this for decades now and despite all the incoming, I’m still here, I’m still forging ahead because I think in most cases most people kind of see through it and we go on together. The vetting on these other candidates has not even begun. And it will. And I think if you look — my best — the Republicans in Nevada had fewer voters turn out than we did in Nevada. I think it was like 70,000 to 80,000 —“
SCARBOROUGH: “Right.”
CLINTON: “— to very small group of people who are making this decision right now. When it moves to the general election, I think you’re going to see a real seriousness of people whoever the Republicans nominate turning and saying ‘What do we really know about this guy?’”
SCARBOROUGH: “He’s most likely going to be Donald Trump.”
