Reid: ‘Fence-Sitting’ Chappell Roan Isn’t Going Well with Gen Z and LGBTQ Fans

‘She declined an offer to perform at the White House’

EXCERPT:

REID: “Huge Gen Z pop star is getting criticized for another type of election fence-sitting. Chappell Roan, the queer Gen Z pop singer, who hails from rural Missouri. Her career took off this year. You may have seen her perform at last week’s MTV VMAs. Last month, she told Rolling Stone that she declined an invite to perform at the White House because of the government’s support of Israel’s war in Gaza, and noted that she’s not a fan of Donald Trump either. In an interview with the Guardian, she said: ‘I have so many issues with our government in every way. There are so many things that I would want to change, so I don’t feel pressured to endorse someone. There’s problems on both sides. I encourage people to use your critical thinking skills, use your vote, vote small, vote for what’s going on in your city.’”
