Toobin: Assault Weapons Don’t Have To Be Legal
‘There have been many efforts to make assault weapons illegal’
EXCERPT:
TOOBIN: “Well, and I think that's one reason why he's being charged here. It's also worth mentioning, I mean, at this point, we almost take it for granted. Assault weapons don't have to be legal. Assault weapons like this were illegal in this country from 1994 to 2004. Bill Clinton signed the assault weapons ban, but it only lasted for 10 years. There have been many efforts to make assault weapons illegal, which would limit this problem considerably about kids having access to them. But we live in a country where the Second Amendment is very much in ascendancy and limiting access to any kind of weapon is very difficult.”
