Jeb: Donald Trump Doesn’t Have a Plan for Entitlements

‘You can’t have a secret plan on big things, it is not possible’

AUDIENCE MEMBER: "I really appreciate you being here today. Thanks for taking your time."
BUSH: "I appreciate you being here."
AUDIENCE MEMBER: "I have to be honest with you about something. I watched MSNBC last night and I watched Trump town hall. One of the things that he said--"
BUSH: "It's not a town hall unless it's like this where you get to ask me questions."
AUDIENCE MEMBER: "I understand. I think he did take questions from some actual voters. The question was about entitlement reform, and he basically said, I am hoping I am quoting him correctly, he said do not touch that in an election because we will lose as a party. I have to say that makes a lot of sense to me because you know Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, from a political point, they will not talk about entitlement reform. Why can't the Republican Party and the Democratic Party come together in a room, sit down, work it out and come out and simultaneously say we want to fix this problem, we will work together, both parties? Why isn't that possible?"
BUSH: "Here is what --it could be possible, but you got to first admit there's a problem. You cannot have a secret plan on big things. It is not possible. The idea of, 'Trust me, I will take care of it'-- really? That is not being honest or courageous and it is not showing integrity. We have a problem and if you do not lay out a detailed plan, how do you engage with the other side, you have to start the conversation. The so-called third rail approach I think is foolish. Nothing ever works when you do not have the courage of your convictions. Donald Trump does not have a plan. It is not that he is saying I will defer it. He does not have a plan. The idea that somehow -- we will be attacked. Hell, yeah, I  want to be attacked on the ideas I believe in. I want it to be a debate about the future of this country. If you do not have the convictions, courage of your convictions, what is the campaign going to be about? It is going to be about nonsense. It should be about powerful ideas that change the direction the country. I am all into this and I respectfully disagree with political view that you might have."
