Zerlina Maxwell on Kamala Harris: The Racism and Misogyny Is Coming, Get Ready to Defend Her with the Facts!

‘The racism and sexism, it doesn’t just exist, it is part of a political strategy’

EXCERPT:

MAXWELL: "So, it's Kamala. After President Joe Biden, decided to stand down from the race, he endorsed his Vice President Harris. 44,000 black women being on a call, the first night that Kamala Harris is set to be the Democratic nominee is an indication that everybody’s getting information. But I just, based on my experience in 2016, want to give everyone some advice on how to defend Kamala Harris from the coming racist and sexist attacks that we know are gonna happen. Of course, everybody’s gonna default to defending Kamala Harris by talking about her positive attributes, the thing that she brings to this presidential race in the form of excitement for young people and voters of color. But it’s not sufficient simply to point out the positive attributes in pushing back against these racist and sexist attacks. It’s really important that everybody understand that the racism and sexism, it doesn’t just exist. It’s a part of a political strategy by those who are opposed to seeing a more representative multiracial democracy take shape. So the false and misleading claims that you will hear from Donald Trump and his vice presidential pick, J.D. Vance, are not going to be a surprise, but it’s important to understand why they’re happening at all.“
