CBS’ Costa: Secret Service Didn’t Include Some Surrounding Building in Its Perimeter for the Trump Rally
EXCERPT:
COSTA: "And so often these events for former President Trump are held in arenas 10,000 to 15,000 to 20,000-seat arenas. That’s his usual setting for these type of events. He does like an an outdoor event. Most of his outdoor events often happen in places where his plane, his Boeing plane, will park and he’ll have a rally at an airplane hangar. This was a smaller rural event. As Congressman Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania told CBS News earlier tonight, this was a place where farmers gather and show vegetables and farm animals in Butler, Pennsylvania a very bucolic setting. This is a place that did, though, have elevated buildings outside, and it’s raising enormous questions tonight among my sources on Capitol Hill and in the security community about how the Secret Service enabled some of these buildings so close to an event of a former president of the United States did not be part of the Secret Service perimeter. You have discussions tonight already, as CBS News report earlier today, about expanding the perimeter at the upcoming Republican National Convention in Milwaukee."
