Jeb Plays Word Association on ‘Morning Joe’; Calls Trump a Loser

‘Bernie is running an upbeat campaign’

SCARBOROUGH: “Yeah. Mark Halperin.”
HALPERIN: “There are six people competing in this primary, you’re one, Donald Trump is one. The other four guys have not done what you’ve done, which is to take a sustained attempt to try to define Donald Trump. Where do you stand in your project to try to tell Republicans what you think of Donald Trump? Where does that stand?”
BUSH: “I don’t know. This is a unique experience.”
BRZEZINSKI: “Yeah. OK.”
BUSH: “Donald Trump has recently became a Republican, so no one has had this experience dealing with the guy. But I find it remarkable when you have the chance to talk about his temperament as Ted Cruz was and he totally ignored it.
BRZEZINSKI: “Yeah.”
BUSH: “Or when Rubio had a chance to say Trump is not a conservative, which he’s not, he totally ignored it. I mean, you don’t confront a bully that way.” [crosstalk]
SCARBOROUGH: “Well, they’re scared of him. They’re scared of him.”
BUSH: “It’s ridiculous. I mean, the guy is just a — you know, what? He’s just a real estate guy. (Laughter)
BRZEZINSKI: “OK. Well, actually —“
BUSH: “He’s gone bankrupt four times. He’s a successful man but he’s had — he’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. So, why not confront him and challenge him?”
BRZEZINSKI: “OK. You seem to be really on your game this morning. So we will close this morning with word association.”
SCARBOROUGH: “Uh-oh, I don’t like this.”
BRZEZINSKI: “Trump. Trump word. Just one word.”
BUSH: “Loser.”
BRZEZINSKI: “OK.”
SCARBOROUGH: “Oh, my God! Oh, my God.” (Cheers and applause)
BRZEZINSKI: “Christie. OK, next one, Christie?”
BUSH: “Christie?”
BRZEZINSKI: “Yeah.”
BUSH: “Great guy.” (Laughter) [crosstalk]
BRZEZINSKI: “Rubio?”
BUSH: “Work in progress.”
BRZEZINSKI: “Hillary.”
BUSH: “She can be beat.”
BRZEZINSKI: “All right. Former governor Jeb Bush —“
SCARBOROUGH: “What about Bernie?”
BRZEZINSKI: “Bernie.”
BUSH: “I love the ad.” [crosstalk]
SCARBOROUGH: “Oh, the America ad —”
BRZEZINSKI: “I love the ad. I love the ad.”
BUSH: “That’s the best ad I’ve seen —“
BRZEZINSKI: “I know.”
BUSH: “Simon and Garfunkel came back, man. It’s nothing wrong with that. I love the ad.” [crosstalk]
SCARBOROUGH: “I tell you what, as far as an advertisement goes —“
BUSH: “I love the hopefulness of that message.”
SCARBOROUGH: “Yeah. That is, is that not the best ad so far in the campaign cycle.” [crosstalk]
TODD: “There’s nothing wrong with [indecipherable]. And that’s — look, Bernie is running a very upbeat campaign. You’ve got a give him a credit for that. That —” [crosstalk]
BRZEZINSKI: “We’ll get to that topic. We’ll get to that. All right, Jeb Bush, you were great —“ [crosstalk]
