HHS Sec. Becerra: So Many People Being Deprived of Their Rights Are People Who Are Trying to Learn English
EXCERPT:
BECERRA: "But it is good to be able to communicate in two languages, especially on something like reproductive healthcare rights, because so many people who are being deprived of their rights and aren’t really sure what their rights even are, are people who are trying to learn English, people who are lower-income, for whom English may be more difficult to comprehend. And we don’t want anyone to misunderstand what their rights are, be confused, because health, maybe life is at stake. And so it is important to communicate to people throughout this country, and we know that the folks that are most impacted by the loss of rights under Roe v. Wade are people of color, people of lower income status, for whom it is tough to just travel anywhere to find the care that they need."
