Scarborough Mocks Trump’s Comments on God: It’s Beyond Parody, It’s Sad

‘Just go to church once, right?’

EXCERPT:

SCARBOROUGH: "When somebody asks you what your relationship with is with God, don’t go, 'Well, evangelicals vote for me, they say, 'Sir, we pray for you.'' I'm not sure where on the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said that. It certainly wasn’t the beatitudes. But he was also, he was asked in 2016, does he pray to God to ask for forgiveness. He said, 'Well, I’ve never done anything that I've had to ask God for forgiveness.' So, Willie, I find it fascinating, he won't answer that question, he didn’t answer that question about the relationship with God. And he still, as far as prayer life goes, again, he still -- you know, he says he has no need to pray because he’s perfect. He’s asked about both of those things and he goes, 'Well, you know, evangelicals like me. They say, 'Sir, sir...'' It is — it is just a parody.  And for people to go, oh, he is a man of God, he is Jesus, he is Jesus in flesh, it is really — again, I mean, comparing him to Jesus Christ on the cross, which some evangelical so-called leaders did, it's just — it's just beyond parody. It is sad."
