Tim Miller: ‘My Holiday Weekend Is Definitely Over When Someone Says to Me Let’s Talk About Rick Grenell’

MILLER: “The first thing that strikes me is my holiday weekend is definitely over when someone says to me let’s talk about Rick Grenell. That is a downer. But anyway, look, Rick Grenell is a very unstable character. What strikes me, you know, this is honestly, Rick Grenell is an unstable guy. You just have to look at his Twitter feed and his Twitter archive, his long history of sending out deeply personal, misogynistic, conspiratorial information, and yet he might be like among the most strategic, if I could use that word, of the people around Trump. You know, Trump has, you know, cast out a lot of the people around him, you know, that had political experience before. Now he’s brought in Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, so he has two people at the top of his campaign. But besides that, it seems like everybody he talks to is an insane person, a conspiracy theorist. So I think that Grenell kind of tries to bridge the two camps of like, super crazy and a Republican strategist who knows what they’re doing, you know, who is going along to get along with the crazy. And I think that’s why he plays an important role. And obviously I think he wants to be a leading foreign policy advocate for Trump if he gets — appointee, excuse me — if he gets in there.”
