Bill Weir: ‘Three of the Top Five Green Energy States Are Run by Republicans … Because the Economics of Green Energy Make More Sense’
EXCERPT:
WEIR: "I look at what is kind of the quiet industrial revolution that's playing out under the seems, under the surface right now, that gives us the fact that Texas leads the nation in green energy. Texas, way more wind and solar than California and Florida. Three of the top five green energy states are run by Republicans right now because the economics of green energy make more sense than the ideology and the politics around it. For most of human history, we’ve burned whatever was cheap and available, whether it was peat or wood or coal or whales or kerosene. Now the two cheapest forms of energy are solar plus storage and onshore wind. So all the new power plants that are coming online are going to be sustainable and renewable. And if we can accelerate that movement, if we can urge with social license, with our power as both voters and consumers to do that, to move us closer to that, we have to. It depends on that."
