MRC’s Tim Graham on C-SPAN: Vox Is Wrong, Conservatives Do Not Dominate Media!

‘Fear is something all politicians use’

EXCERPT:

GRAHAM: "Well, obviously, sometimes people get canceled. Tucker Carlson got canceled. Chris Cuomo got canceled. Yes, cancel culture is a term amongst conservatives, so, yes, they're going to say, conservatives sound like this victims because somebody fired them. I mean, that's somebody that might claim they're a victim. Obviously, the president, you can argue, is saying he has been victimized. And I think you can -- when we study the news media and how negative they are toward Trump, it’s been routinely 90, 89, 90, 91% negative, so you might feel like you have been victimized. However, yes, you could also say this is the way that Trump wins. In today’s day and age, the more negative coverage you get from the legacy media, that tends to help you. That might seem very odd to liberal people. I just wanted to respond to one other thing, and that is this whole idea, well, the conservatives are so in fear and the conservatives are dividing people. This is where we all turn around and say, 'What’s your reporting on the climate if not driving fear? What’s your reporting on hate speech or any of these stories if you are not sowing fear and division or suggesting that conservatives in general are hateful people? Well, that is a divisive thing to say. We should just acknowledge — let’s be objective about this. Fear is something all politicians use, right, love and — you appeal to all the emotions. That’s just the way it is. Hate is something you could argue any political side is engaging in by being critical of the other side and saying mean-spirited things. Those are universal. I don’t think you can say, 'Oh, they do all the fear and division. It's only the conservatives.' That's a divisive statement right there."
