TMZ: Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Hauled out of Airport to an ATM Machine to Pay Customs for Bringing Expensive Watch
EXCERPT:
LEVIN: “Arnold Schwarzenegger got not only stopped at customs in Munich, Germany, he was hauled out of the airport to an ATM machine, back to the airport, where they tried to get his credit card to pay about more than $10,000 for something that he brought into the country. I had no idea things like this happened. Let’s hear the details.”
LATIBEAUDIERE: “It sounds like Arnold got caught in a scam at first, the way you hear it laid out.”
LEVIN: “Totally.”
LATIBEAUDIERE: “That someone leads him to an ATM and — “
LEVIN: “Police!”
LATIBEAUDIERE: “ — and make him take out money. Like, if you’re Arnold, you must be thinking, ‘What is going on here?’ But it is all on the up and up, and here are the details. It is wild. So, Arnold is going to Germany. He landed in Munich. He was going there because one of the things he was going to be doing is auctioning off one of his watches.”
LEVIN: “For charity.”
LATIBEAUDIERE: “Yes. An Audemars Piguet, which is a watch — it’s probably — I don’t know which model it is, it was custom made for him, I’m guessing it’s over $100,000, roughly.”
LEVIN: “I think you’re right, based on the amount he had to pay.”
LATIBEAUDIERE: “Right. So the problem was that they found this watch in his luggage, and when they looked at his immigration form, he had not declared the watch.”
