Strassel on Trump Leading in the Polls: Half of the Party Don’t Want Him To Be the Nominee and that Suggests Some Weakness
RUSH EXCERPT:
STRASSEL: "I couldn’t disagree more. media stories like to talk about his double-digit leads but I saw in a different way. if you look at Iowa, new hampshire, South Carolina, he is at 50% of the vote. that is striking to me. in theory he’s a little like the incumbent, the Republican equivalent of President Biden. half of the state, half of the party doesn’t want him to be the nominee. that suggests some weakness. that is what the other candidates digging into these polls, a lot of people even in those categories saying who they are going to vote for him, say they are open to changing their mind before they go to the Iowa caucuses or the new hampshire vote so his problem at the moment is theirs high expectations for him. if Trump is not performing where he’s playing in the polls, that leads them coming out of Iowa even if he wins, looking more vulnerable and potentially open to a strong challenge in New Hampshire."
