    SCHOEN: “I think, ultimately the substantive issue is we don't take away the right to vote and the right of a candidate to stand for election under the First and 14th Amendments based on a finding by a single state judge on insurrection. Again, they had a chance to charge him. I think Griffin's case is important, 1869 decision, that says you need federal legislation to effectuate this provision in the Constitution. And frankly, I think also Article Two, Section One, really controls what the qualifications are for a president, 14 years a resident, 35 years of age at least, and born U.S. citizen. So I think it would be a terrible decision, and I think it's a terrible move, quite frankly, politically.”
