‘We Need to Make Sure that Veterans Have Purpose’: Jim Whaley on How to Curb PTSD Numbers

‘All of us need to reach out to veterans that we know, need to support veterans organizations’

RUSH EXCERPT:

WHALEY: "A lot of reasons. First, thanks for having us and thanks for covering this important subject. We know that while members of the military are in-service they find purpose and support. But often during the transition to civilian life, they lose that sense of purpose and they lose that support network. And so feelings of isolation, the ability to find a job, a number of headwinds cause isolation and a separation from their friends and family. And so then you have of course risks of anxiety and PTSD associated with the holidays. All of us need to reach out to veterans that we know, need to support veterans organizations. We just need to make sure that veterans have purpose and that will help curb those numbers a little bit."
