Queer School Board Member Cries and Scolds Parents Not Wanting Books with Gender Ideology Themes in Kids Classrooms

‘I respect your religious belief’

EXCERPT:

DAVIS: “And it is disappointing in St. Louis Park to have this come up. I don’t have all the words. I'm thinking about my child. I'm thinking about what it would feel like for him if I said that having a book about a concept of two dads — he has two moms — is troubling. Urging children to engage with their gender identity, with the idea that that my wife and I exist, that our family exists, is not controversial. Limiting access for children to books is not gonna protect them from the fact that I exist in this world and that my family exists in this world. So I’m willing to engage in this conversation, but understand I’m not going anywhere, my family’s not going anywhere, and I hope that we can find solidarity because — because diversity and inclusion and equity are critical and foundational to this district. It's part of the reason I choose to live in this community. It's part of the reason I choose to serve on this board. I’m not going anywhere. And getting rid of books to talk about me and my family are — is not going to change that."
