MSNBC Intel Analyst: ‘Distracted’ Netanyahu Calling His Security Services ‘Deep State’ Sounds Familiar
RUSH EXCERPT:
POLYMEROPOULOS: “This was the anniversary of, the 50-year anniversary. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. I think there’s going to be a commission after the fact, obviously, Israeli intelligence and the military are busy now, but there’s going to be a serious accountability review. Israel has done this before, after ’73, they did the same thing, because this is something that has gone so wrong and kind of to break this aura of invincibility. The intelligence capability is the nation’s first line of defense, and they failed. You brought up a really good point about the distraction. There was amazing political dysfunction within Israel and in fact, Netanyahu was in a sense in great conflict with the heads of his security services. He actually called the heads of shin bet and the military, the deep state, if that sounds familiar to you. So hopefully I think there’s a lot that’s going to come after the fact. The Israeli intelligence community has to rise up right now. They have real important things to do in terms of finding targets. They have to find the hostages in Gaza. They have to determine the level of Iranian culpability. And it’s not going to be pretty for the Israeli gimpt as well because I think that dysfunction may have had something to do with this.”
