Riley Gaines: Title 9 Will Be Modified to Preventing Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity
EXCERPT:
GAINES: "We've seen FINA, which is the international governing body of swimming, we’ve seen World Athletics, which is the same for track and field, we’ve seen now cycling take the approach where they’re prioritizing fairness. They’re saying that if you’ve gone through male puberty, you can’t compete against women, which is great. That being said, the NCAA, the IOC, what the Biden administration is doing to Title 9, we have some realms where it’s taking the total opposite approach. The Biden administration in regards to Title 9, they're rewriting it to where it’s no longer preventing discrimination on the basis of sex. It’s preventing discrimination on the basis of gender identity. And I can tell you right now what they’re going to do. It’s supposed to be implemented in October and they are going to try to be sneaky, they’re going to try to do it discreetly, so the general public doesn’t know that they’re doing this. Because when they opened the comment period, it was flooded with negative comments about what they were doing. So, they’re going to try and do it sneakily.“
