Marc Morial Suggests Bringing Workers Back to Office Will Stop the Blue State Exodus

MORIAL: “So I think the mayors have to work with the business communities, but also it will require a pivot as to how you think about some of the excess office space in terms of creating live/work spaces, so that if people leave — so people don't completely leave downtowns. That is damaging not just for the cities, it's damaging for the region because central cities, whether it's downtown Chicago, Manhattan, New Orleans, Atlanta, San Francisco, Seattle, are the economic aorta of entire regions. So if the downtown declines, if you will, it will impact the overall region, it impacts the visitor industries. So, the mayors have a big challenge ahead of them. They have to work with the business community. I think some leaders here in New York said, 'Hey, you will come back in the office, we will ask you to come back in.' I think it is important that they continue pressure to bring workers back into the office, it will help retailers — "
