Marc Morial: ‘Those Who Predicted a Recession Seem To Be Absolutely Wrong’
‘The more people we have working at maximum potential, the better it is for all Americans’
EXCERPT:
MORIAL: “We do see a narrowing of the black/white unemployment gap. So, one of the key to narrowing that gap is robust, continuous job growth, including education and training, which helps people move up the ladder. So, I like the direction. I am not spiking the ball and not popping the cork, but the issue is whether we have consistent job growth. Now, I urge and encourage and hope the Fed will pause its interest rate increases. I think we are in a place right now where inflation has eased and those who predicted a recession seem to be absolutely wrong. It looks like we have avoided it and the Fed has navigated the economy, has navigated this job creation and we may get 200,000 today. Hopefully we'll get 200 or 200-plus.“
