Fmr. FBI Agent: W.H. Cocaine Probe Will Be ‘Cloaked in Secrecy’ When It’s Tagged as ‘Nat’l Security Investigation’

KAPLAN: “Under the executive order 12333, which gives the FBI exclusive jurisdiction and investigative powers to investigate our national security domestically, maybe the United States Secret Service realized or the FBI realized, if they come on board and now make this a national security investigation, that then cloaks this entire scenario in secrecy. That means that your freedom of information request and everybody else’s request, we will never ever see the light of day of ever knowing really what happened because the FBI will fall back on a breach of national security and then it is cloaked in secrecy and we will never know really, truly, who was responsible for bringing in the cocaine and who ultimately was responsible for being in possession of that cocaine, because the FBI and, rightfully so, with respect to 'national security investigations' can take that posture."
