Basil Smikle: ‘I Still Think Trump Is Going To Be a Major Concern for the Biden Team’

SMIKLE: “The Biden re-election team — well, I’ll tell you, I still think Trump is going to be a major concern for the Biden team, but also Ron DeSantis. And for a couple of reasons. One, because Trump is just going to be a tough candidate. It’s going to be a tight race. And it’s a 2.0, right? I think anything can happen, but I still think Biden pulls that out. Ron DeSantis is interesting because, in some ways, he knows how to negotiate local politics, the statewide politics to actually implement and codify his particular policies. And if there are Republican governors across the country that like that, that are drawn to that — which I’m sure there are — that’s going to be compelling for a number of them, though I don’t think in either case they make good general election candidates. But, again, I think we’re talking about small margins.”
