Carson: Donald Trump’s Tactics ‘Really Are for Grade School’

‘I discovered when I was in grade school that those tactics really are for grade school’

BRZEZINSKI: "Carson laughed off Donald Trump's criticism of his energy level and he hit back at his opponent for his upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live."

CARSON: "People still get to hear whether I am campaigning or not. They still get to hear what I am saying, or you have people talking about me saying that I am a low energy, or whatever. It keeps your name out there. (Laughter) That's good ... Those who accuse me of low energy I seriously doubt that they can keep up this pace ... I'd not want [indecipherable] on 'SNL'.

REPORTER: "Do you plan on watching?"

CARSON: "No."

JANSING: "Would you do 'SNL', if asked?"

CARSON: "No."

JANSING: "Why?"

CARSON: "Because I think the presidency is a very serious thing and I don't like making light of it by --"

Also yesterday --"

SCARBOROUGH: “What do you al think of that? What do you think, should the candidate do 'SNL'?

Oh, sure. I mean --"

GEIST: "I think if he were asked, he would do 'SNL'. I don't think they have asked Ben Carson. I think so."

WALLACE: “Yeah. And we are choosing someone to be in their living rooms for good bad things that happen in this country. I think people want to see him. And what's funny about Carson is people like him because of nonpolitical biography that he brings to politics. It's pretty funny that he's rolling out anything --"
DEAN: "I'd agree with you. I think people want to see their candidates humanized but I think that Carson would be a disaster because he doesn't appear to have sort of that personality that you need to be the MC of 'SNL'. He is pretty -- he is kind of low energy. I mean, he is. He has a flat affect and that's tough on television."

BRZEZINSKI: "I've never seen him on any speed but the one he's at."

WALLACE: It's not hurting him. I mean, look at him, he's still ahead."

BRZEZINSKI: "Also yesterday, 'SNL' posted video promos for this weekend show including some that were not intended to be released."

SCARBOROUGH: "Ups."

BRZEZINSKI: "Like this one."

[clip starts]

UNKNOWN PERSON: "Donald Trump is hosting Saturday Night Live this week with [indecipherable] and because of equal time rules for television, Mr. Trump can only speak for four second in this promo."

TRUMP: "So let me just say this. Ben Carson is a complete and total looser."

CARSON: "I discovered when I was in grade school that those tactics really are for grade school, and I have gone far beyond that now."
