RAJU: "Yeah, she actually indicated that they actually plan to move on legislation in response to this report, in response to this investigation by the Ways and Means Committee that found that mandatory presidential audit program under the IRS had not moved forward and, in the words of the Committee, was 'dormant' during the presidential years during Donald Trump and didn’t act until 2019, when chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Richard Neil, sent a letter in April of that year to the IRS asking for tax returns. That spawned the audit, they say. That should’ve been done when Donald Trump became president in 2017, but it was not done. And as a result, Nancy Pelosi, in her final days in power here, is indicating they will move forward, likely this week, on legislation. She says in a statement, 'The Ways and Means Committee report makes clear the legislative steps that must now be taken to guard the public trust, and we will move swiftly to advance Chairman Richard Neil's legislation requiring the Internal Revenue Service to conduct an annual audit of the president's finances.' So, expect that to come to the floor here, Laura, tomorrow, maybe the day after, but certainly by Friday, when the Democrats, in their final days in power, plan to finish up business and the Republicans take control in January."
