‘I Never Thought It Would Be Paul’: CNN Previews Pelosi’s First Interview Since Attack on Her Husband
‘I run to the door and I see the Capitol Police... I’m thinking, my children, my grandchildren’
EXCERPT:
PELOSI: “I was sleeping in Washington, D.C. I had just gotten in the night before from San Francisco. And the — I hear the doorbell ring and think, it’s 5:00 something. I look up, I see it’s 5:00, who — they must be at the wrong apartment. It rings again and then bang, bang, bang, bang on the door. So I run to the door and I see the Capitol Police and they say ‘We have to come in to talk to you.’ And I’m thinking, my children, my grandchildren — I never thought it would be Paul because I knew he wouldn’t be out and about, shall we say. And so, they came in at that time, we didn’t even know where he was.”
