‘The View’ Calls Ben Carson ‘Pathetic,’ ‘Despicable’ for Abortion Comments

‘Sir, no disrespect, truly no disrespect, but it’s not your call’

GOLDBERG: "Republican candidate Ben Carson came on strong against Bush on Meet the Press, so take a look."
[clip starts]
TODD: “Do you want to see Roe v. Wade overturned?”
CARSON: “Ultimately, I would love to see it overturned.”
TODD: “And that means all abortions illegal, or is there still an exception that you would have?”
CARSON: “I'm a reasonable person and if people can come up with a reasonable explanation of why they would like to kill a baby, I'll listen.”
TODD: “Rape and incest?”
CARSON: “Rape and incest, I would not be in favor of killing a baby because the baby came about in that way.”
[clip ends]
SYMONE: "Despicable."
GOLDBERG: "Well--"
BEHAR: "What can you say to that."
GOLDBERG: "It's -- sir, no disrespect. Truly, no disrespect, but it's not your call. You don't decide -- (Applause) -- You don't decide what -- you don't decide for anybody's family here what they are going through and what they are going to need."
SYMONE: "You know what he also said. He said slavery -- he said during slavery a lot of slave owners had a right to do what ever they wanted to their slaves. So what if abolitionists didn't speak up and say this is not wrong, do whatever you want to, which doesn't make any sense. And he said that in regards to abortion."
BEHAR: "He's identifying with the abolitionists to protect the fetus."
SYMONE: "He's doing the exact same thing that the slave owners did and making choices."[crosstalk]
